Who looks after this place

Amigos da Cascata is a community of neighbours, hikers and regular visitors who care about Cascata de Anços — a small waterfall fed by the Mourão river, tucked into a valley near Montelavar. We share what the falls look like today, keep an eye on the trail, and gather what's been written and shared about this place across the web — so the next visitor knows what to expect, and treats it with the same care.

Getting to the falls

Cascata de Anços sits between the villages of Anços and Maceira, in the parish of Montelavar, about 30–40 minutes from Lisbon. A signposted path in Anços leads to the falls in about 400 metres — unpaved, narrow, and slippery when wet, with rope handrails in places.

Along the way you'll pass a ruined watermill, still holding its original grindstone.
